About the Studio
Arimokko Living is a Singapore bespoke joinery studio. We design and craft kitchens and wardrobes that are beautiful, sustainable, and built to last a lifetime.
Our Story
Arimokko Living was founded in 2014 on a single conviction: that Singapore homeowners deserved better than the choice between mass-produced cabinetry and prohibitively expensive bespoke work. There was a gap — between the generic and the extraordinary — and we built our studio to fill it.
The name Arimokko is a compound of the Japanese words for "existing wood" and "small thing" — a reminder that the most beautiful interiors are built from materials that already carry beauty, shaped by hands that understand restraint.
A decade later, we have designed over 500 homes across Singapore. Every one of them began with a conversation, and every one of them was built by our own hands.
What We Stand For
We design spaces that are modern without being cold, minimal without being empty. Every Arimokko interior has warmth at its core — in the materials, the proportions, the quality of light. We call this Soft Modernism: the belief that the most sophisticated spaces are also the most liveable.
Sustainability is not a feature we add at the end — it is the foundation we build from. Every timber we specify is FSC-certified. Every lacquer is water-based and VOC-free. Every substrate is E0-rated. We believe the most luxurious choice and the most responsible choice should always be the same choice.
A beautiful kitchen that does not work is not beautiful. We obsess over the logic of a space as much as its aesthetics — how you move through it, where things live, how storage disappears. Our interiors are engineered to make daily life feel effortless.
We do not design for trends. We design for decades. Every joint, every hinge, every surface is specified to perform and look beautiful twenty years from now. This is why we offer a five-year craftsmanship warranty — and why our clients come back when they move to their next home.
"We do not design rooms. We design the feeling of coming home."
Mei Lin Tan — Founder & Principal Designer
Every brief we receive is different. Every home we design is different. But the intention behind every project is always the same: to create a space that feels so right, so entirely yours, that you cannot imagine it any other way.
The People Behind the Work
Founder & Principal Designer
Mei Lin founded Arimokko Living after a decade designing residential interiors across Singapore, Tokyo, and Copenhagen. Her work is shaped by a deep belief that the spaces we live in shape the people we become — and that every home deserves to be designed with that weight in mind. She holds a Master's in Interior Architecture from the Royal Danish Academy.
Senior Designer
James joined Arimokko from a boutique architecture practice in Kyoto, where he developed a precise, considered approach to space and material. He leads the design of our Kitchen Systems collections and is responsible for the Kyoto and Nordic Atelier series. His work is characterised by a quiet rigour that reveals itself slowly, over years of living.
Head of Production
Ahmad has spent 25 years in bespoke joinery, the last eight leading production at Arimokko. He is the reason our kitchens feel the way they do — the softness of a drawer close, the precision of a mitred corner, the depth of a lacquered surface. He reviews every piece before it leaves the workshop.
